No, I did not force media for the mii-tool output. I did Force it to
100baseT-FD at one point during my testing to see if I could get a stable
link established.
I may have caught some extra messages from my messages file,
which might have included my switching the network connection back to my
3Com 10 megabit switch, so that I could at least have a connection that
worked properly. That is the connection status I get from my 3Com
switch.

I will add them to my lilo.conf file and see if it helps. I assume that
they should be added to the append line in the lilo.conf file, since they
produce errors in the lilo compilation when they are on a line by
themselves.
