Hey list,

I've just started having problems with my 3c905 100BaseTX [Boomerang]
(rev 0). I'm using 2.4.22 with no patches. After setting debugging
up on the module, this is what I'm getting in my logs (grepping
for error):

Oct  7 16:06:25 flop kernel: eth0: vortex_error(), status=0xe081
Oct  7 16:08:11 flop kernel: eth0: vortex_error(), status=0xe881
Oct  7 16:10:09 flop kernel: eth0: vortex_error(), status=0xe481
Oct  7 16:15:44 flop kernel: eth0: vortex_error(), status=0xe881
Oct  7 16:18:11 flop kernel: eth0: vortex_error(), status=0xe881
Oct  7 16:20:50 flop kernel: eth0: vortex_error(), status=0xe081
Oct  7 16:23:45 flop kernel: eth0: vortex_error(), status=0xe881
Oct  7 16:32:30 flop kernel: eth0: vortex_error(), status=0xe881
Oct  7 16:36:52 flop kernel: eth0: vortex_error(), status=0xe481
Oct  7 16:44:24 flop kernel: eth0: vortex_error(), status=0xf081
Oct  7 16:45:43 flop kernel: eth0: vortex_error(), status=0xe481
Oct  7 16:46:53 flop kernel: eth0: vortex_error(), status=0xe881
Oct  7 16:49:32 flop kernel: eth0: vortex_error(), status=0xe081
Oct  7 16:50:50 flop kernel: eth0: vortex_error(), status=0xe481

Before I unplugged my switch downstairs (now the server is going
straight up to the main switch) every time one of these errors
happened I would not be able to connect to the machine and all its
services (ssh, NFS etc) would be unavailable. Now only 1 in 3 or
4 is doing the same thing.

So far I've got no ideas apart from reading that an 08 type error
indicates CRC errors and hence hardware (in the archives). Thats
what made me disconnect the other switch.

Any ideas? Please cc to my email address because I'm not on the list.

Thanks,

Matt
