[vortex-bug] also having a strange network behavior

Thank you for answering this fast, the Kernel version I use is 2.4.0 which
is delivered with Suse 7.1, and I also tried it with the 2.4.3 Version.
And yes, you´re right it is a SMP System!

I also mailed Andrew Morton because I found his Adress in vortex.txt I found in the SUSE documentation, he has a realy good suggestion I will test. I put a copy of his answer here:

The on-board APIC stopped delivering interrupts. This is a bug
in either the hardware of the APIC handling code in the 2.4 kernel.

If this is an SMP machine (I don't htink it is) then boot with the
`noapic' option.

If yu've built the kernel with the 'IO-APIC' option, then don't.
Use the `noapic' option.

A fix for this problem exists in the recent 2.4.x-ac kernels
(Alan Cox's). I suggest you use one of those.

The fix will apparently be sent to Linus soon.
