What exactly do u mean by the card was not recognized?

In my case the card was getting recognized, but with a wrong MAC(all
zeroes). Thus though module loading was successful, when started to ping,
it failed after 12-15 tries. To solve this I compiled with -DUSE_IO_OPS option.

In my opinion, the first generation, Packet engines gigabit cards r
broken.
