I just tried the 2.3.99-pre6-3  and your patch
3c59x-2.3.99-pre6-3-1-patch.gz and I see the same problem as all the other
versions on my computer.

I do a buch of networking at the same time as graphics stuff and networking
stops receiving packets.  It is a module so it wouldn't take much for me to
try other code.
