3c905b problems

I would guess it is NOT 3c905 related problem. What is the output of
'route'? Does it show correct routing entry for the outside world,
e.g. something like this:

 Kernel IP routing table
Destination     Gateway         Genmask         Flags Metric Ref    Use Iface
164.107.0.0     *               255.255.0.0     U     0      0       33 eth0
127.0.0.0       *               255.0.0.0       U     0      0        2 lo
default         164.107.60.1    0.0.0.0         UG    0      0       16 eth0

?

If it does not, check your IP networking setup, not the vortex-diag etc.
