Problems with 3C905B

Hi,

I am trying to install RedHat Linux 5.1 on a Dell OptiPlex GX1, which comes
with a 3C905B-TX NIC.

Apparently, Linux recognises the network card and initialises it without
problems. However, we cannot even ping to or from other computers.

The boot message from Linux is:

Oct 13 17:47:21 pc0383 kernel: 3c59x.c:v0.99 4/7/98 Donald Becker
http://cesdis.gsfc.nasa.gov/linux/drivers/vortex.html
Oct 13 17:47:21 pc0383 kernel: loading device 'eth0'...
Oct 13 17:47:21 pc0383 kernel: eth0: 3Com 3c905B Cyclone 100baseTx at
0xdc00, 00:c0:4f:84:9f:06, IRQ 11
Oct 13 17:47:21 pc0383 kernel: 8K byte-wide RAM 5:3 Rx:Tx split,
autoselect/10baseT interface.
Oct 13 17:47:21 pc0383 kernel: Enabling bus-master transmits and
whole-frame receives.

And the output from ifconfig is:

lo Link encap:Local Loopback
          inet addr:127.0.0.1 Bcast:127.255.255.255 Mask:255.0.0.0
UP BROADCAST LOOPBACK RUNNING MTU:3584 Metric:1
          RX packets:6 errors:0 dropped:0 overruns:0
          TX packets:6 errors:0 dropped:0 overruns:0

eth0 Link encap:Ethernet HWaddr 00:C0:4F:84:9F:06
          inet addr:146.103.9.27 Bcast:146.103.15.255 Mask:255.255.240.0
UP BROADCAST RUNNING MULTICAST MTU:1500 Metric:1
          RX packets:0 errors:0 dropped:0 overruns:0
          TX packets:11 errors:0 dropped:0 overruns:0
          Interrupt:11 Base address:0xdc00

As you can see, no packets are received, although there is activity in the
net. Moreover, this very same machine runs happily under WindowsNT.

Are we doing something wrong? What can we do to solve this problem?

Thanks!
