Driver crashing Linux with 3c905B-TX Card

I recently installed two 3c905B-TX 3-com cards, one in a P-166 MMX and one
in a 486 DX-66. I am having alot of problems with the 486. When I attempt
to do a high bandwidth transfer, such as transmitting a 10 MB file via FTP,
Linux (Redhat 6.0 - kernel version 2.2.5-15) completely crashes. The
following is the error messages I received:

eth0: Host error, FIFO diagnostic register 0000
eth0: Host error, FIFO diagnostic register 0000
........................
(line is repeated 21 times in total)
........................
eth0: Host error, FIFO diagnostic register 0000
Too much work in interrupt, status 8003. Temporarily disabiling
functions(7ffc).

Once I receive this message its game-over... I have to physically reboot the
system. Has anyone experienced a similar problem? Any suggestions for how
I can fix this? I don't have any problems with my P-166. Incidently I am
using v0.99L of the 3c59x driver. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks
