Hello,

I believe I have a hardware problem, but before I take the card back
to the store, I would like to make sure that it's not some mistake
of mine.

I have a linux machine v. 2.0.36 with a 3com 905B PCI card which works
vey nicely attached to a cable modem.
I also have a win98 machine with a PCI 3com 905B already installed.
I decided to set up a small LAN. I bought the Linksys ether16 10Base T
and installed it as a second NIC on the linux box, Cat 5 cables and a
cheap 5-port linksys hub.
When I connect the win98 box NIC to the hub, the corresponding LED lights
up at the hub.
When I connect from the linux side the linksys card to the hub, the
corresponding LED on the hub stays off.

The Linksys card itself is detected by the kernel

and its own LEDs are lit.

Doing the ifconfig/route business works OK, in the sense that I don't get
any errors. Pinging the win98 causes 100% packet loss.

Am I correct in assuming the card is defective? Or have I overlooked
something?

Thanks for your help
