[tulip] LNE100TX problems

I just recently installed Slackware 7.1.  I'm running an LNE100TX 4.1 nic, 
and previously couldn't get this working under debian.  I've tried again, 
and gotten a LITTLE farther, but still no success.  I follow all the 
directions listed on the tulip driver's site, and i can get it the respond 
to ifconfig eth0.  I can't even ping anything, though.  I tried rebooting 
to see if that would help any, but what I got was this:

Configuring eth0 as 24.13.107.197
SIOCSIFADDR: No such device
eth0: unknown interface: unknown device
SIOCSIFBRDADDR: No such device
eth0: unknown interface: unknown device
SIOCSIFNETMASK: No such device
SIOCADDRT: Network is unreachable

I'm assuming this is where my problem is.  If anyone could help, I'd be 
infinitely grateful.
