What is the detection message?
How does the driver fail?
What does 'tulip-diag' report?

The only known issue with 4 port 21143 cards is the common x86 BIOS bug
that incorrectly assigns IRQs.
Putting 32 bit PCI chips behind is 64->32 PCI bus bridge (a 21152 chip?)
shouldn't impact driver operation.
