Are you actually running the updated driver?  You can tell by the
module message (run 'dmesg', or logged in /var/log/message).

Read that message as "don't pass parameters unless you know that the
module accepts them".

The irq= and io= parameters are only for ISA cards.
Passing unknown parameters will prevent the driver from loading.
