Karl (and others),

I to was somewhat surprised by the fact that the Tx and Rx state are
'stopped'. Yesterday evening I also tried to get tcpdump and to my
surprise all the packets from the home network are visible on the
masquarading linux box. However, no reply is being issued. Also, and this
was even stranger, when I send just ping packets to the linux box, the 2nd
one got a reply returned to the issues saying that the packet was
corrupted. I have one more arrow on my bow to try which is to swap a nic
from machine that works at 100 Mbps and full-duplex with the one in the
linux box. More on that later.
