TULIP Driver problem on SMP Linux ??

We had exactly the same problems with a news peering server - worked fine
with a single processor but crashed within 24 hours with SMP. When we
upgraded the tulip driver to:

 tulip.c:v0.90 10/20/98 becker@cesdis.gsfc.nasa.gov

the problem vanished. I notice that between the driver in 2.0.36 and this
driver, some code marked SMP_CHECK got enabled so perhaps that makes the
difference.
