Forcing an Addtron AEF-380TX card to half-duplex

There was a thread earlier in the mailinglist archive about forcing
a network card with Tulip chipset to use 100 half-duplex instead
of full-duplex. But I didnt quite get it :)

If someone give me an example of how to force a tulip card
to use half-duplex, both with a monolithic kernel and with a 
modular kernel, I would be very grateful.
I dont want to take any large trial&error chances since I'm remote
of the machine for the time being.
