1) I would recomend highly going to RedHat 5.0/5.1
2) Not all Dec Tulip ethernet cards are equall (just like say NE2000),
I would recomend a Dec Tulip card such as the Net Gear or Acer which have 
prooven to be reliable/effective.

Perhaps an actuall ethernet card produced by DEC if you wanna spend 
some money and make relatively sure it will work or an Intel EtherExpress
