my bewoul cluster have a front node with
KDE (X11 desktop) and KDM (a KDE XDM) installed
and I can easily log with my NT X11 emulator
either with XDMCP protocol or with telnet
then setting the DISPLAY variable...
so anwers is yes. it's linux.
anyway think about installing at least
the X11 libs and the X11 program you need on the
front node.
on the slave, depending how they are configured
(X11 or not) or how the IP masquerading is configured
it may work or not.
on my cluster, I have X11 libs and tools installed
(not KDE) and the IP masquerading is set so that
the slaves nodes can open a connection outside
and look like the connection was initiated on the
front node.
