System performance MFLOPS & MIPS

This time, the old "it depends on your application" doesn't sound so trite
=)
Count the number of instructions (for MIPS) or the number of floating point
operations (for MFLOPS). Time your execution in microseconds. Divide
#instructions (or FP ops) by #microseconds, and you'll get MIPS (or MFLOPS).
