Proxy Server?

Hi all.
I've a friend: he is an engineer and he works for an italian ISP.
One day I was chatting with him about the Beowulf.
Suddently he said: "Can I use a Beowulf to run a proxy server? Why don't you
search someting about it?"
Can you help me to find the answers to the following questions?

a) Is it possible to use a Beowulf to run a proxy server? In other hand, what's
the best way to realize a "Super" proxy server?

b) If the answer to the previous question is positive, where could I find more
informations?
