[realtek] irq conflicts?

I recently acquired an Hp pavilion a1210n which uses an ASUS A8AE-LE
mother board with a Realtek network chip and an ATI IPX SB400 chip
that provides sound, ide, SATA, and USB functions. Up to this point
the only way I can get the USB to work is to set ACPI to on in the
kernel along with the other ide usb parameters. However when I set
ACPI on the realtek (eth0) no longer functions properly. It looks to
me to be an IRQ problem as I can with ethereal  see ARP requests
going out with replys coming back, but I get destination unreachable.
Does anyone know if this configuration can be made to work/has it
working??
