[realtek] Speed Question

Unfortunately for you it's kinda hard to detect the bottleneck, your =
connection is a fast as the SLOWEST connection allows. This means that =
it could be very well possible that you have an execellent uplink to =
your ISP but are only (well only... my cable modem only does 2kBps or so =
average) getting 105kBps because the server you are downing from is =
heavily loaded at the moment. The routers over which your connection =
goes might be overloaded, or your ISP could be out of bandwidth... Did =
you download it from a local server? (Thus one located at your ISP so =
you'd be only using the ISP's infrastructure and not their backbone. =
Ofcourse this depends on your ISP's setup, but most ISP's set it up so =
that data from their servers for their customers doesn't go over the =
backbone but only the infrastructure).
Further I would like to point out that you are mailing a LINUX!!! user =
group. People here don't support problems with your ISP nor your ADSL =
modem. Actually they only support the linux drivers for your type of =
networkcard. :-)
Also a lot of info is missing.... Where did you download from, at what =
time did you download it? (Most ISP's won't be able to give you full =
speed at peak hours, if you use my ISP you'll never ever reach top =
speed...) Did you install the latest realtek drivers? www.realtek.com.tw =
for windoze.

I have a Realtek network card installed in my desktop computer and in =

The installers test of the line from a dedicated download test site =
with his laptop achieved a download speed of around 205k per second =
which is around what is expected.

The test on my computer which is a PIII 733, with 256M Ram, and an =
ASUS P3V4X Motherboard running WIN98 2nd could only achieve a maximum of =
105K per second download rate.=20

Is there some setting I can change or that should be changed to get a =
faster download rate?

My Realtek info that I can tell is as follows.
