a) Try the various drivers.  There don't seem to be hard-and-fast rules
as to which is best, other than the fact that the stock kernel driver is
the worst.  Whether Don's version of eepro100 or Intel's e100 works best
seems to be very hardware-dependent.

b) Check duplex autonegotiation.  My Compaq desktop machine was getting
that wrong talking to our Foundry switch.  Forcing it with module
options fixed the problem.
