Query on Compaq E100B NIC

Hello there,

I'm having a problem with an EtherExpress 100B NIC in a Compaq
6400 EN desktop. The 100B card is direct from Compaq.

Loading of the driver causes no problems, but attempting to
initialize the eth0 connection siezes the computer thoroughly,
requiring unplugging.

Has anyone encountered this problem before, or should I get some
debugging info?
