Hi John!

Yeah i was there in 2012!

You can see the PDF online.

Computerchess is a great example of how a science can progress faster
than anyone ever could have predicted in terms of algorithmic
progress and evaluation progress.

When i interviewed in 90s majority of the top scientists (my program
was very poor back then), none of them managed to predict the
algorithmic progress adding up to that the
evauation progress.

That was an important subject of the talk.

Switzerland really suffers because of not having the euro. That was
clearly visible in Lugano. Meanwhile because of Schengen and the
economic connectivity they do need
to pay to rescue our banks :)

Note that this is even better visible in Denmark, which is part of EU
yet doesn't have the euro either like Switzerland.
If you compare their GDP of 2000 with 2011 and then put that next to
Netherlands 2000 versus 2011, then you see that Netherlands is doing
over 10 percentpoint better,
which translates even for such tiny nation already into 30+ billion
euro a year which Denmark doesn't have right now.

The euro is stronger than the politicians who take systematically
dubious decisions as they're not busy with long term issues!

Even in computerchess you see how difficult the long term can get
predicted there. And that whereas nowadays there is past 13 years
nearly no money to make with computerchess.
