The convention for a larger MTU is Jumbo Frames at 9000 Bytes, and most switches support it these days. Some hardware even support Super Jumbo Frames at 64K but it's rare (and useless IMHO). Since Jumbo Frames are out of spec, they are typically not enabled by default in switches. Patrick
