[Beowulf] Plan 9

I was surprised to see Plan 9 deployed on a Blue Gene, http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Blue_Gene#Plan_9_support. I think of Plan 9 as the direct descendant of System V; Bell Labs wanted to integrate distributed processing (I believe thinking, everything on the net can be an appliance to anything else) in the "new" (latter day) unix.
