Read the introduction to Roadrunner - the Opterons are intended to be mostly used as host processors (though I guess initially they'll be doing more than that as people will need to do a lot of porting work), the Cell's are meant to do most of the grunt work. For instance with Linpack it appears they just used the Cell to get the petaflop number, they didn't bother to add the 49TF's from the Opterons.. cheers!
