I would wait to see the new Intel Seaburg 1600FSB. Combined with the new harpertowns being released early next year *should* offer considerably better performance over memory intensive applications for not much more money (I worked out $400 per dual socket node) It will have gen2 PCI express which, I have been told by hardware vendors will let many of the high performance interconnects out of the cage.
