Yes. If you are using MPICH p4, then you can simulate a cow as long as
you can ssh to localhost:

ssh someuser at localhost

Yes (heterogenous clusters). This requires knowledge of data packing and
compiler interoperation of a scale which I do not possess. In other
words, it can be tricky.
