I was asked about this recently, and had not been able to find a serious study as to whether or not they are truly elastic for HPC, cluster, and related systems. If you happen to know of a good study (outside of a basic economics text) on this market, I would like to know. A good place to get this data would be Intel and AMD, who when lowering prices by some amount can indicate sales volume and volume changes. Of course, such data may prove to be something they don't want to release for competitive reasons. Just curious. -- Joseph Landman, Ph.D Scalable Informatics LLC, email: landman at scalableinformatics.com web : http://www.scalableinformatics.com phone: +1 734 612 4615
