One practical pointer I can give is a book I wrote about a different subject, but it has a very practical chapter on random number generation and the parallelization of it. The book is entitled Computational Single-Electronics Christoph Wasshuber Springer Verlag; ISBN: 321183558X; (July 2001) Of course there are dozens of great books and articles of which some are referenced in my book.
