I want to construct a small (4 node?) cluster for learning purposes and to help with data mining for an M.S. class I am in. I was wondering if I could use 2 dual processor (Tyan, maybe?) motherboards and get the same results as 4 single boxes, since my room is cramped. Can anyone help me out? Also, what kind of power requirements will I need? Thanks! > A lot of clustering folks use dual cpu boxes. A dual 2.2Ghz xeon boxes uses about 225 watts, not including monitors and such, while being heavily used. In a small room, you are more likely to run into heat problems rather than power, as a standard residential circuit can more than two dual boxes. Personally, almost all the machines I have at home are dual boxes. Its just more economical in the long run. -Dean
