Hear, hear! I was having a beer with Linus once, and he was kind of surprised to learn that building a supercomputer with Linux didn't necessarily mean a bunch of kernel patches. The way this came up, of course, was that he had talked about adding patches needed for embedded systems, and of course would be opposed to patches for weird niches like supercomputing.
