We have run some tests to check the vector performance of Pentium with
SSE/SSE2 and vectorizing compilers. The Portland and the Intel compilers has
been used to generate vector code. Two cpus, Pentium III and 4, at 800 MHz
and 1.5 GHz has been used.

We conclude that for overall performance of the vector benchmark the
vector code is performing better than scalar code. The speedup with
the vector benchmark is significant, but less than expected.

Results are published at
"Vector performance for Pentiums with different compilers ".

The benchmark is a modified version of : and vectord
