As a follow up:
 I have scyld version 27BZ-7 (most rpms have 2.2.17-33 ver number on them)
 I have two NICs
        - "3Com Corporation|3c905 100BaseTX [Boomerang]"
        - "Intel Corporation|82557 [Ethernet Pro 100]"
