I have been in a HP seminar where the AMD invited presenter told us that quad-core Opterons are socket-compatible with older dual cores. He further said that there will be a small performance drop in motherboards that do not have the split-power capabality. Has anybody successfully conducted such a swap? In HP DL145-G2 ?
