I wanted a simple config for a user's laptop:

./configure --prefix=/home/hahn --with-device=ch3:shm --disable-romio --disa
ble-threads --without-mpe --enable-fast --with-pm=gforker

this was mpich2; using gforker is nice because it eliminates _any_ setup
of ssh/rsh/mpd.
