There is a section on Optimizing NFS Performance on the NFS sourceforge site. In summary they say that the number of NFS daemons should be 4-8 per processor. The article also tells you how to read some of the files in /proc to work out how much work the daemons are doing. Look at section 5.6. http://nfs.sourceforge.net/nfs-howto/ar01s05.html Craig.
