Linux is not a GNU product.  I think the term you want is a 'vanilla
2.6.8 kernel' or '2.6.8 kernel from kernel.org'

As far as GNU kernel's go, their kernel is called the GNU Hurd, and I
don't believe its reached 1.0 yet.
